Specialist SMSF education and administration service provider Heffron has launched a new course designed for those entering the SMSF sector building on its Education bites program which started in October 2021.
The Super Foundations course, first flagged in September last year, is designed for new SMSF accountants, administrators, auditors, trainee paraplanners and new business services accountants, according to the firm’s website and its launch was announced on social media by Heffron managing director Meg Heffron.
The course will be offered via seven online modules estimated to take around 45 minutes to complete and which must be completed within a three month period. The education service also offers continuing professional development (CPD) hours and Heffron course certification, at a cost of $330 per person.
Alternately the course can be completed via online classrooms that include two intensive webinars with online assessments, CPD and Heffron course certification and three months access to the Heffron Super Companion, at a cost of $450 per person.
According to information available via the Heffron website the course will cover the types of superannuation funds currently available, the operation and purpose of an SMSF and who can be a member as well as their responsibilities, the rules regarding contributions and investments open to an SMSF, withdrawing money from a fund; and how SMSFs are taxed.
The new stream expands the range of education offered by Heffron that now includes the Super Foundation and Education Bites training modules, in-house training, an intensive day, two master classes, five SMSF clinics and four quarterly webinars each offering CPD certification.
Upon announcing the new initiative in September, Heffron revealed it was industry demand for this type of service contained in feedback about the Education Bites that triggered the move.
