Stuart Robert to oversee financial services

Treasurer Josh Frydenberg has announced the treasury portfolio arrangements for Prime Minister Scott Morrison’s government.

Frydenberg said as treasurer he will be responsible for responding to the banking royal commission, development of taxation and superannuation policy, budget, economic and fiscal policy, and major foreign investment decisions.

He said he will also have primary oversight of the Australian Securities and Investments Commission, Australian Prudential Regulation Authority and Australian Competition and Consumer Commission.

Assistant Treasurer Stuart Robert will be responsible for financial services and the day-to-day management of super, competition and consumer policy, the Australian Bureau of Statistics, fintech, crowd source equity funding and assisting across the portfolio, including on tax legislation and administration.

Assistant to the Minister for Treasury and Finance Senator Zed Seselja will be responsible for the not-for-profit and mutuals sector, assisting Frydenberg with some aspects of foreign investment and working with him on housing policy, as well as assisting on matters across the portfolio.
