BT Panorama expands SMSF reach

BT Financial Group (BTFG) today announced a partnership with BGL Corporate Solutions to enable accountants to move to the cloud and get the most out of the BT Panorama platform.

Accountants and advisers will now have access to two-way data feeds between BT Panorama and BGL’s Simple Fund 360.

The partnership was part of BTFG making its platform more accessible to accountants, head of distribution Jo Moxey said.

“We know that many accountants collaborate with advisers in managing their clients’ SMSFs and they are looking for smarter ways to work together to best serve trustees,” Moxey noted.

“Along with giving accountants up-to-date client investment activity and being the only platform to offer two-way data feeds to accounting software, BT Panorama gives accountants, advisers and investors easy SMSF establishment and over 2400 investment options.

“This latest enhancement ensures an even more comprehensive SMSF solution, giving [our users] a whole-of-wealth view of the investments, including external assets.”

She added two-thirds of accountants desired better accounting/planning system integration and collaboration tools to make it easier to work with advisers, according to Investment Trends statistics.

BGL managing director Ron Lesh said in the past, managing SMSFs was often fragmented and accountants had to rely on manual systems for an up-to-date, holistic view of their clients’ positions.

“Today, accountants are increasingly looking to cloud-based solutions to help drive efficiency and service their clients,” Lesh noted.

It is believed around 250,000 of the 590,000 SMSFs in Australia are administered through the cloud.

BGL estimates 30 per cent of its SMSF administration clients have moved to the cloud over the past three years.
