We conducted our annual SMSF Roundtable earlier this year and asked the opinions of some the most respected experts in the sector about the most important issues. In this segment we asked: Should the SMSF sector be concerned about the findings of ASIC “Report 575 SMSFs: Improving the quality of advice and member experiences” and ASIC “Report576: Member experiences with self-managed superannuation funds”? Do ASIC’s findings indicate more trustee education is required? Who’s responsibilty is trustee education?
Participants:
Chris Balalovski – Self-managed Independent Super Funds chair and BDO Business Services partner
Peter Hogan – SMSF Association head of education and technical
Graeme Colley – SuperConcepts technical and private wealth executive manager
Yvonne Chu – Head of Technical Services at Australian Unity
