An increase in the super guarantee levy may still go ahead at the scheduled time, but a decision on the matter will not be made until the first half of next year, a government minister has said.

The SMSF Association is confident the bill increasing the maximum number of SMSF members from four to six will be passed.

A Senate committee has recommended SMSFs be allowed to accommodate six members, but dissenting senators called for greater regulation around SMSF advice.
