Heffron has expanded its education offering with the release of short, continuing professional development (CPD)-accredited courses covering a number of key topics in the superannuation and SMSF sector.
The new Mini Courses, of which there are currently more than 60, cover the areas of contributions, benefits, death and insurance, fund and other taxes, investments, super and SMSFs, and practical application, are delivered online and will take up to one hour to complete.
The new offering builds on the SMSF service provider’s existing short course range of Super Foundations for new entrants, Super Extension for those working in the SMSF space and Super Specialist for those looking to specialise in SMSF accounting, auditing or financial advice.
Heffron managing director Meg Heffron said the new courses were the next stage of the firm’s education offering and aim to provide targeted, practical knowledge to keep practitioners up to date and able to support clients.
“Mini Courses allow financial professionals to access practical learning exactly when they need it, whether that’s building foundational knowledge or responding to a specific client need,” Heffron added.
“Mini Courses provide a flexible option for earning CPD hours while addressing real-world client challenges. Courses are structured to help professionals quickly close knowledge gaps and build confidence in specific areas, without committing upfront to broader or more time-intensive study.
“Trustees rely on accountants and advisers to guide them through complex decisions with clarity and confidence. By equipping professionals with accessible, high-quality education, we’re helping lift standards across the industry and improve outcomes for those who rely on SMSFs.”
She said the range of education programs created a flexible learning pathway so SMSF professionals could build their own capabilities and increase their knowledge in specific areas based on client needs.
“We know SMSF professionals are time poor. They are balancing client demands, compliance obligations and constant change. This is education that fits into their workflow, not around it. It’s practical and immediately applicable,” she said.
