Tasmanian-based SMSF actuarial certificate provider Act2 Solutions has completed a revision of its operational systems and procedures that has resulted in being awarded ISO 27001 certification.
The achievement makes it the only actuarial certificate provider in the country to gain this type of accreditation.
The certification comes after the SMSF stakeholder undertook an extensive enhancement of its systems, procedures and overall approach to its client data security.
The initiative was undertaken to improve the service it is offering to its clients as opposed to adhering to any regulatory or legal requirement.
ISO 27001 is the highest standard pertaining to client data integrity and security with global recognition. It is a security management standard providing organisations with a structured framework to safeguard their information assets, covering risk assessment, risk management and continuous improvement. Verification of the security procedures is performed by an independent auditor.
According to Act2 Solutions, the development means practitioners and their SMSF trustee clients will know any of the information submitted to it will now be protected to the highest possible internationally certified standard.
In commenting on the initiative, the actuarial firm acknowledged the importance of client data to its operations and the practitioners with which it deals.
“Put simply, your clients’ data is the most critical piece of our business. But we also know it’s vital to your relationship with your clients that their information is safeguarded. When you place your trust in Act2, that trust extends to every trustee whose details you submit on their behalf. We take that seriously,” Act2 Solutions said in a statement.
“We will continue – in our planning, our systems and every interaction – to maintain the highest standards of information security so [practitioners and trustees] can be confident that you and your clients are in safe hands.”
