The Financial Advice Association Australia (FAAA) has announced the appointments of Glenn Calder and Ben Marshan to its board and the reappointment of Jade Khao (Tan).
All three positions will be held for a term of three years commencing at the organisation’s annual general meeting on 18 November. The new appointments follow the completion of William John’s term and the resignation of Angela Martyn in September.
“The appointments of Glenn, Ben and Jade to the FAAA board come at a crucial time in the evolution of the financial advice profession,” FAAA chair David Sharpe noted.
All three have the FAAA’s certified financial planner designation and bring to the industry body significant sector experience.
Calder is joint chief executive and executive director at Viridian Financial Group, a company which has grown from 15 staff to more than 400 during his leadership. He has been a practising financial adviser for more than 15 years and is currently completing further postgraduate study.
Marshan is the managing director of Marshan Consulting and a director of the Future2 Foundation. He is also chair of the Financial Planning Standards Board (FPSB) Regulatory Engagement Group, where he helps shape global standards influencing local practice.
Khao (Tan) has been a member of the FAAA for more than two decades and prior to joining the association’s board in November 2022, spent six years with the FAAA Sydney Chapter, including four years as chapter chair.
In addition, she is an FAAA Women in Wealth Champion, a member of the board finance, risk and audit committee and the board conduct and integrity committee.
“Each board member brings important skills and experience which will add to the depth of knowledge on the FAAA board and will play an important role in guiding our strategic direction as we navigate a challenging regulatory landscape,” Sharpe said.
Further, he took the opportunity to thank the departing directors for their work for the FAAA.
“Angela has worked tirelessly on the board and as the chair of the policy and regulations committee to bring about the best outcomes for members,” he acknowledged.
“During Will’s six years on the board he has been a passionate advocate for members with an unwavering commitment to ensuring the FAAA is always doing the right thing.”
