Accounting practitioners will be equipped with practical and applicable skills to adopt and use artificial intelligence (AI) in their work and business as part of a new course being offered by a major accounting body.
Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ) has launched the Certificate in AI Fluency to educate practitioners about generative AI opportunities and arm them with skills to implement plans and governance frameworks based on legislative standards in their workplaces.
The 20-hour program will include four self-paced digital courses with two expert-led workshops and a practical assessment to demonstrate competency with the material.
Information about the course on the CAANZ website added participants would learn to explain the strengths and limitations of AI, understand the legal and ethical parameters that govern its use and evaluate how it could support their business needs and goals.
CAANZ education and marketing group executive Simon Hann said the certificate was introduced to ensure accounting and finance professionals remained competitive in rapidly evolving workplaces.
“The Certificate in AI Fluency exemplifies the dynamic professional development and training initiatives CAANZ is creating to empower our members and finance professionals to embrace gen AI,” Hann said.
“This critical technology is helping augment their key skills, including problem-solving, critical thinking, adaptive mindset and ethical oversight.”
The course has been co-designed by AI and technology adoption expert Inbal Rodnay and Deloitte Centre for the Edge chief edge officer Peter Williams.
Rodnay urged people to register for the course, which would cost CAANZ members $2499 and non-members $3124.
“Developing AI literacy is the single most impactful thing that any professional can do today for their career, team and business,” he said.
“The course is practical and the learning is immediately applicable so people can confidently integrate AI into their ways of working and stay ahead of industry changes.”
Registration for the first intake to the course, which starts on 23 May, closes on 16 May, while a second intake will close on 12 September with the subsequent course to begin on 19 September.
