Heffron has revealed the timeframe by which the content forming its Super Extension education offering launched in February will be completed.
The Super Extension option is an intermediate-level education course aimed at practitioners who already have a basic understanding of superannuation and SMSFs. It has been designed to include seven learning modules broken up into one-hour segments.
“We are well underway in writing those [modules]. We’ve actually launched [the one covering] contributions and benefits already so that’s 12 hours of content,” Heffron managing director Meg Heffron told delegates at the Heffron Super Intensive Day 2024 held in Sydney last Thursday.
“[The module covering] investments is just about ready and we’ll have the whole set, all seven, finished by the end of this financial year.”
Heffron also provided an update regarding the progress of the Super Specialist education option the firm is putting together.
“At the same time we’re working on the Specialist series and we’ve already written one of those [modules], contributions. Benefits [content] will be out before Christmas and we’ll finish [all of] those, not this year, but [during] next year,” she said.
According to Heffron, all of the learning material, when formulated, will provide a significant amount of educational content directed at individuals who have completed the SMSF organisation’s Super Foundations offering or practitioners wanting to fill in some gaps in their superannuation knowledge.
Further, she publicised the fact the Super Specialist course will include a practical component.
“It’s one thing to say ‘this is how the law works’, but [we want the Heffron Specialist course to also demonstrate] this is what you can do with that [information] in practice,” she noted.
“So we’ve got an entire series devoted to in-practice [applications] and often [an issue] comes up in practice.”
She acknowledged over 400 people have undertaken the Super Foundations course to date.
“It makes you feel like it was worth writing it,” she said.
