The SMSF Association has recognised excellence in practitioner service in the sector with the presentation of its annual awards at its National Conference 2024 in Brisbane yesterday.
The CEO Award is presented to members of the industry body who have made a significant contribution to foster the SMSF community and live the values of the SMSF Association.
This year saw joint winners of this award for the first time, with Peak Super Audits managing director Naomi Kewley and Red Willow Super founder Marjon Muizer both being recognised for their respective efforts to service the sector.
“Naomi has co-authored and maintained the SMSF Specialist Auditor education modules and exam for the association over the past two years,” SMSF Association chief executive Peter Burgess noted.
“Marjon is an active industry participant and together with Naomi co-authors and maintains the SMSF Specialist Auditor education modules and exam for the SMSF Association.
“I’m sure anyone who has recently completed the SMSF Specialist Auditor accreditation program will agree the quality of that program is outstanding.”
The SMSF Association Chair Award is presented to a member of the sector body who is working diligently to make an outstanding contribution to the growth and sustainability of the SMSF sector, with Smarter SMSF chief executive Aaron Dunn recognised with the honour in 2024.
“[Aaron] has been heavily involved in SMSF education, [often] participates in regulatory and policy-related matters and was involved in things as exciting as the Super System Review and reinventing the ATO program,” SMSF Association chair Scott Hay-Bartlem acknowledged.
“It’s all really important and without members contributing like this we will never get things changed.”
In other news, Hay-Bartlem has had his tenure as chair extended for another two years.
Upon the announcement, he assured members advocacy for the sector would be a continuing commitment in the coming years.
“As an association, we will continually work to promote the professionalism and integrity of the sector, while staying actively involved in discussions with government, stakeholders, regulators and policymakers,” he declared.
