SMSF industry veteran and former SuperConcepts senior staffer Graeme Colley has been appointed as an ambassador for the Auditors Institute to promote the work of audit practitioners in the superannuation sector.
Colley, who was most recently SMSF technical and private wealth executive manager at SuperConcepts and previously held the role of director of technical and professional standards at the SMSF Association, stepped into the new position today.
Auditors Institute president Lina De Marco said the position reflects the importance of the body in supporting quality audits and the value of auditors in their governance role.
“We are thrilled to have someone of Graeme’s calibre assume this pivotal role,” De Marco said.
“Graeme’s extensive industry expertise, complemented by his profound knowledge of SMSF intricacies and alignment with the institute’s values and community, makes him an exceptional addition to our team.
“As the SMSF sector continues its robust growth, having Graeme, with his well-established network of SMSF auditors and licensees, is a priceless asset in our mission to inspire more industry professionals to join our ranks as institute members.”
The institute added Colley would promote its mission of providing a unified and independent voice for auditors, especially as they relate to superannuation and SMSFs.
“The greater risks being faced by trustees, members and other interested parties in relation to the member’s retirement savings need to be independently reviewed,” it said.
“It is an appropriately qualified auditor who is able to provide an objective view in line with the requirements of the legislation and auditing standards.”
