The Auditors Institute has expanded its membership to include auditors who do not work with SMSFs, offering them a lower membership fee with access to many of the same benefits offered to SMSF auditors.
The associate membership category is open to non-Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC)-registered auditors at $330 per year compared to SMSF auditor membership, which costs $440 per year, according to the Auditors Institute website.
Both memberships offer more than 20 hours of continuing professional development, access to 20 new webinars each year and the institute’s back catalogue of SMSF webinars, as well as conference discounts. Members can also access the body’s technical SMSF resources library and tap into its network of ASIC-registered SMSF auditors.
SMSF auditor members also receive access to a members-only technical discussion forum, a listing in the members-only SMSF auditor directory, voting rights and representation, and SMSF auditor advocacy with ASIC.
The expansion of membership by the institute follows its recent rebranding from the SMSF Auditors Association of Australia, which took place so it can provide support to auditing professionals operating outside the SMSF sector.
