The Financial Services Council has added an experienced financial executive to its board of directors

The Financial Services Council (FSC) has announced the appointment of Colonial First State chief executive of superannuation Kelly Power to its board of directors.

Power, who has more than 20 years of experience in financial services, joins the FSC board after having served on its Superannuation Board Committee and also holds director positions on the boards of the Colonial First State Superannuation Trustee and the Association of Superannuation Funds of Australia.

FSC chair David Bryant acknowledged Power’s extensive background as a financial executive within the financial services industry, including her experience as Head of Platforms at BT Financial Group, and said he eagerly looks forward to working with Power to advance the interests of the FSC’s membership.

“We are delighted to have someone of Kelly’s calibre and experience in the superannuation, financial advice and platforms sectors joining the FSC Board,” Bryant said of the appointment.

“As a senior industry leader with a commitment to placing the interests of consumers at the forefront of policy development, Kelly will make an invaluable contribution as the FSC continues to lead national debates,” he said.

Power expressed her excitement about the appointment, highlighting the opportunities and challenges facing the financial services industry going forward.

“This is an exciting period of innovation and competition in the sector and I look forward to working with my fellow FSC directors to drive positive change for consumers and help shape the future of financial services in Australia,” Power noted.
