Accurium promotes Dunn to senior role

Accurium has promoted one of its long-serving senior staffers to a new leadership role within the group.

Accurium has promoted its technical services manager and senior actuary Melanie Dunn to the role of principal with the actuarial certificate and SMSF education provider.

Dunn who has been with Accurium for more than 15 years steps into the principal role after a stint in excess of eight years as technical services manager. Prior to filling that position she was the head of SMSF services.

Accurium managing director Doug McBirnie said Dunn, who is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries specialising in global retirement systems and an SMSF Association Specialist Advisor (SSA), “has been an integral part of the team at Accurium for many years with experience across all parts of the business”.

“She is passionate about delivering the best outcomes for our clients and is highly regarded as a knowledgeable and engaging educator and actuary.

“As principal, Melanie will continue to grow our award-winning education and technical support services for accountants. She will also work closely with me to drive the design, development, and delivery of new actuarial services to accountants, advisers, and institutions.”

Accurium was named as the winner in the actuarial certificate provider category of the selfmanagedsuper CoreData SMSF Service Awards in 2022 and McBirnie told selfmanagedsuper the company was focused on expanding its professional development offering to SMSF and accounting practitioners.

“We have a client base of over 4000 accounting firms, and we want to be doing more to support them. We are already well known in the actuarial certificate space and have been building our presence in the SMSF education space and it made sense to broaden that into other areas and see what services we could take to clients,” McBirnie said.

“We feel there is a lot we can do in the education and professional development space and an issue most practices are facing is around resourcing and getting enough people with the expertise to do the work.

“We are exploring where we can help with that and looking at how we can provide more technical support for our accounting clients, so expect to see something from us in the new year on that.”
