The Financial Planning Association (FPA) has announced the results of its recent board elections, which have seen the addition of two new members who are SMSF specialist advisers, as well as the re-election of another board member and the reappointment of the board chair.
The FPA stated Angela Martyn and Jade Khao would join as new members and William Johns would remain on the board after being re-elected following the expiry of the terms of Alison Henderson, David Sharpe and Johns.
Sharpe, who was board chair, will retain that role after the board appointed him as an additional director, while Johns returns for a second consecutive term.
Henderson, who had already served two terms and was ineligible to stand again, will step down from the board at the association’s annual general meeting on 22 November when the three-year terms for those elected will commence.
New board members, Martyn and Khao both hold the SMSF specialist adviser and certified financial planner (CFP) designation and have been involved with the FPA in a number of capacities.
Martyn is also an accredited aged care professional adviser and has been a contributor to the FPA policy and regulations committee, a member of the Joint Association Working Group and is the retiring president of the Boutique Financial Planning Principals Association.
Khao is also a life risk specialist, and has been the FPA Sydney Chapter chair since 2018 and the New South Wales Gen Next chair for the Association of Financial Advisers.
Sharpe said: “On behalf of the FPA board, we are delighted that William will continue to serve on the board and we’re also very pleased to welcome Angela and Jade. Each bring important skills and experience which will add to the depth of knowledge on the FPA board.
“I would like to sincerely thank Alison for her exceptional contribution to the FPA board, the association and the profession more broadly. On a personal note, I would also like to thank her for her many years of wise and balanced counsel.”
