The SMSF Association (SMSFA) has expanded its technical services offering for fellow, specialist and associate members, adding recordings and technical papers from events and appointing a new technical manager.
As part of the expansion, the association has made available the recordings of the 2020 and 2021 National Conference sessions, as well as presentations and technical papers from the 2020 and 2021 Technical Summits, through its member-accessible library.
SMSFA deputy chief executive Peter Burgess said: “Logistically, it has been an enormous exercise to increase our resource library content by about 40 per cent. In total, 28 technical papers and 62 technical presentations have been added over the past month.
“We firmly believe it has been a very worthwhile exercise with the National Conference and Technical Summit sessions complementing other material in the library, such as go-to guides, technically speaking bulletins and white-label documents.”
Burgess said the addition of Fabian Bussoletti, who is an SMSF expert and a former member of AMP’s TapIn technical services team, as technical manager would boost the SMSFA’s technical support service capabilities.
“It’s no secret we would like to see more practitioners undertake the SMSF Specialist Adviser (SSA) program in our quest to enhance the quality of SMSF advice,” he said.
“Together with Fabian, [technical strategy manager] Mary Simmons and [policy manager] Tracey Scotchbrook, the association boasts a formidable and experienced team of technical writers and experts.
“This appointment means we have the scale and capabilities to continue to invest in our SSA program so that it remains the benchmark for SMSF practitioners.
“Considering Fabian’s extensive technical support experience, his appointment also enables us to enhance the level of SMSF technical support to members.”
He said recent enhancements to the SSA program, the addition of new materials to the library and the appointment of Bussoletti were aimed at increasing the core elements of the industry body’s member value proposition of growing expertise and leading the SMSF sector.
