La Trobe Financial clients who fell victim to the recent floods in New South Wales and Queensland have an added source of financial relief after the fund manager recently established its Flood Disaster Relief Fund.
The fund will provide access to $2000 grants for La Trobe Financial customers whose houses were affected by the floods to help them purchase essential items such as clothing and food, as well as secure any temporary accommodation they might need.
The facility has been set up with a capital pool of $1 million.
“I cannot imagine how these people are feeling. We have just come out of bushfires and COVID-19 and to be confronted by these floods is a real test to their Australian spirit. However, we will stand together with all of our customers and support those most in need and help them rebuild their lives as quickly as possible,” La Trobe Financial president and chief executive Greg O’Neill said.
The manager has implemented some additional financial assistance measures for its clients affected by the floods, separate to the Flood Disaster Relief Fund.
To this end, La Trobe Financial is allowing its customers to defer any loan repayments for up to four months or reduce mortgage repayment arrangements, and has provided temporary interest-only payment terms and given easier access to funds invested in the La Trobe Australian Credit Fund.
A dedicated hardship help team and hotline has been set up to assist clients with their queries and can be reached on 1800 620 639.
The initiative reflects the continued support the financial services industry makes available to victims of natural disasters that occur across Australia from time to time.
In January last year, SuperConcepts offered a pro bono service to SMSF trustees to assist them with any issues they might be experiencing with regard to fund documentation and lodgements as a result of the bushfires occurring at the time.
