AMP has released a new podcast series to provide an educational tool to allow individuals to boost their knowledge of the superannuation system.
The material for the podcast series, called Simplifying Super, will be hosted by AMP’s Adam Marsters and will draw upon the expertise of John Perri and Fabian Bussoletti, who are also both part of the AMP superannuation team.
Nominated topics to be covered during discussions in the series include what happens to an individual’s super in the event of death, tax concessions associated with retirement savings, contributions and drawdown rules.
The first episode of the series is available and provides insights into the history of the Australian retirement savings system. The remaining five episodes are scheduled to be released on a weekly basis.
“Our world-class super system is a purpose-built, tax-friendly way to help Australians retire well. For most, super is our biggest financial asset after the family home when we retire,” AMP workplace super engagement general manager Stephen Owen said.
“Unfortunately, many of us still leave it too late to properly engage with our super and miss out on taking full advantage of the system – super is an asset we should understand and nurture from as young an age as possible because we know small changes now can multiply into big benefits over the years.”
According to Owen, the importance of having more Australians increase their knowledge about superannuation has intensified after the federal government allowed early access to people’s retirement savings as a relief measure for financial hardship suffered as a result of COVID-19.
“The Simplifying Super series – easily accessible through the most popular mobile and online podcast platforms – draws on the deep knowledge of AMP’s experts to help you better understand the ins and outs of our super and retirement systems,” he said.
“It will help you make informed decisions about your super and retirement, which can be transformational to quality of life.”
The AMP podcast series can be accessed via the Spotify and Apple platforms.
