New policy manager for SMSFA

SMSFA Scotchbrook

The SMSF Association has named one of its board members as its new policy manager and made it a stand alone role within the organisation.

The SMSF Association (SMSFA) has announced the appointment of Tracey Scotchbrook as its new policy manager to take effect from 19 April this year.

Scotchbrook brings to the role over 15 years’ experience in the sector and her standing as an SMSF specialist has been seen to provide a good depth of hands on knowledge and experience to the advocacy activities of the industry body.

“Tracey is highly regarded in the SMSF sector and well known to many of our members. Tracey’s hands on experience and her extensive SMSF technical knowledge adds substantial strength to the Association’s advocacy and technical capabilities at a time when the advice industry is facing some significant challenges,” SMSFA chief executive John Maroney said.

“She has been a champion for professional advice and the SMSF sector for many years and we are looking forward to having her passion, experience and expertise in the team,” he added.

The appointment extends Scotchbrook’s official involvement with the industry body as she has been a member of the SMSFA board of directors since June 2019. Given the position she has now taken on Scotchbrook resigned from the board effective 1 April.

SMSF Association vice chair Michael Houlihan thanked Scotchbrook for her contribution and insights she provided as a board member over the past two years.

“We wish her well in her new role and are extremely pleased that she will continue her great work with the Association for the foreseeable future,” Houlihan said.

Commenting on the appointment Scotchbrook acknowledge the importance of the advocacy work the industry body performs.

“As a member, I have highly valued the policy work undertaken by the SMSF Association on behalf of members. It is truly a privilege, and I am excited to have the opportunity to step into this important role,” Scotchbrook said.

The association has not had any of its officers solely focused on its advocacy initiatives since August 2019 when then head of policy Jordan George accepted a role within Treasury.
