SMSF actuarial certificate provider Accurium has appointed SMSF specialist Mark Ellem as its new head of education.
The company announced the former SuperConcepts SMSF technical services executive manager’s new role would be to build on Accurium’s current educational offering.
“We are excited to welcome Mark to our team, he is a great fit for our organisation,” Accurium general manager Doug McBirnie said.
“The Accurium TechHub has one of the largest audiences in the industry and we are very pleased to be able to provide clients with the benefit of Mark’s vast experience and expertise. Mark’s role will be to further expand our educational offering to our actuarial certificate clients and beyond. He will join our strong technical team alongside technical services manager Melanie Dunn, bringing a different perspective to SMSF issues.
“Accurium has a number of exciting developments coming into fruition early next year in which Mark will play an important role.”
Ellem, an SMSF Association accredited specialist adviser and recipient of the industry body’s CEO award in 2019, exited SuperConcepts in May, ending a period of service that spanned six-and-half years. He joined SuperConcepts in November 2013, having been policy director at Supercorp immediately prior.
“I am delighted to be joining Accurium’s well-regarded team and am very much looking forward to building on the great range of SMSF education services that is currently provided via the Accurium TechHub,” Ellem said.
The news of Ellem leaving SuperConcepts followed the departure of the firm’s technical education services general manager, Peter Burgess, who took up the role of deputy chief executive and director of policy and education with the SMSF Association in May.
