Clime unveils self-directed portfolio range

Clime Investment Management has launched a range of self-directed investor model portfolios in partnership with the OpenInvest platform.

Clime Investment Management has launched a range of separately managed account investment portfolios for SMSF trustees and other self-directed investors.

The self-directed investor model portfolios, launched in partnership with the OpenInvest platform, will be made available to roughly 45,000 subscribers of Clime’s direct share research service, Clime Direct, and its related newsletter, “The View”.

The new range allows self-directed investors to choose between the wealth manager’s balanced or growth-oriented multi-asset-class portfolios, launched in late 2019, or its All Cap Australian Equities model portfolio, launched in March 2015.

Clime chief executive Rod Bristow said: “We’re excited to be launching these high-quality investment portfolios for self-directed investors today. Clime’s investment management team collectively have more than 150 years’ experience and our All Cap Australian Equities Fund was ranked in the top five performing funds in the country in 2019 by Mercer.

“A number of our other Australian equities and income strategies performed in the top 10 per cent of their category over the same period. Bringing this capability and expertise to self-directed investors in the form of online access to our managed portfolios offers a unique opportunity for investors to gain a real edge in growing their wealth.”

The new portfolios were developed in order to meet the growing demand among Clime Direct subscribers for Clime to take on the management of their investment portfolios, Bristow noted.

“Over time we will also be seeking to add direct share-trading functionality, allowing subscribers to research and trade shares as well as invest in our portfolios, all with integrated reporting, within the Clime ecosystem,” he added.

OpenInvest chief executive Andrew Varlamos said: “We are excited to be partnering with Clime on this new initiative. Australia’s self-directed investors are looking for trusted and professional assistance in managing their portfolios and it’s extremely rewarding to be able to assist Clime to serve these retail investors.”

Clime released its first retail products on the OpenInvest platform in April last year, becoming the seventh wealth manager to join the platform since OpenInvest’s launch in late 2018.
