New forum for FPA members

A new online discussion forum has been developed by the Financial Planning Association (FPA) and made available for its members.

The Financial Planning Association (FPA) has developed a new online forum that will allow its members to network and share their views on industry issues with one another.

The FPA Community is a secure online platform designed to facilitate discussion among practitioners and have them share any relevant information with their fellow planners privately, and has been developed in response to demand from its members for such a service.

“CoreData research identified that FPA members are seeking more opportunities to connect and share with their professional peers,” FPA chief executive Dante De Gori said.

“Specifically, members told us they want a confidential and safe space in which to network with other members that transcends geographic boundaries. We took this feedback on board and we’re pleased to launch FPA Community, the new online forum for FPA members.”

In particular, financial planners can pose questions about relevant issues to other practitioners and ask for feedback on topics from their colleagues in the industry via the platform.

De Gori noted the electronic forum makes communication easier for all members, especially those whose physical location can make face-to-face contact difficult.

“We know that our members have never been busier and taking time out of their week to attend events can be challenging for some. We also have remote FPA members spread right across Australia who may have trouble travelling. So FPA Community provides an easy and convenient way to communicate and share with other members online when it suits each member best,” he said.

Access to FPA Community can be achieved through a variety of devices, including computer, tablet or smartphone, with members being provided with a variety of groups to participate in. These groups have been formed on the basis of special interest topics and each association chapter will also have its own group.

Notifications will be sent to forum participants by email once they have joined a discussion via which they can respond.
