The SMSF Association has finalised the individuals who will participate on the Thought Leadership Breakfast panel that will mark the start of the industry body’s 2020 National Conference.
The three-person panel will consist of SMSF Association chief executive John Maroney, Challenger retirement income chair Jeremy Cooper, and Investment Trends chief executive Michael Blomfield.
BT Financial Group general manager superannuation Melinda Howes will again facilitate the session.
The topic to be discussed on the opening morning of the conference is what the superannuation landscape will look like in 10 years’ time.
“It’s always a worthwhile experience to ‘crystal ball’ the future, especially in an industry such as superannuation where so often it seems change is the only constant,” Maroney said.
“It will be particularly interesting to hear Jeremy’s views considering it will be a decade since he handed down his landmark report into superannuation. He will be in an ideal position to forecast future change from the vantage point of what has happened since his 2010 final report.”
Maroney added Investment Trends will also provide an interesting perspective to the discussion due to the market insights, developments and dynamics the research house has observed over a significant number of years.
The SMSF Association 2020 National Conference will be held at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre between 19 and 21 February.
In addition to the Thought Leadership Breakfast the event will included sessions tailored specifically for SMSF specialist advisers as well as workshops that will give delegates the opportunity to interact with industry experts and their peers.
As with past conferences the program also includes sessions that will cover off the latest changes to the legislation and regulation governing the SMSF sector, investment opportunities, business practices and advice.
Early bird registrations for the event close on Friday 29 November and can be made via the SMSFA’s website.
