FASEA exam record registrations

Around 5000 financial advisers will have registered for FASEA exams during 2019 with a record number of registrations received for the next exam in December

Close to 2500 financial advisers have already registered for the next round of exams conducted by FASEA, adding to the nearly 2300 advisers who have sat the exam in the first two sittings of 2019.

FASEA announced 2430 advisers had already registered for the December exam ahead of the registration closing date of 8 November, a record number of registrations to date and easily passing the 2276 advisers who sat the June and September exams. The June exam – the first conducted by FASEA – was attempted by 579 advisers while the September exam was attempted by 1697 advisers.

The December exam will take place from the 5 to the 9 of that month in 19 metropolitan and regional centres, up from 15 centres for the September exams, which were conducted from 19 to 23 September over 79 sessions. Results of these exams will be released in mid-November.

FASEA stated, in addition to the metropolitan locations, regional centres for the December exam sitting would be Townsville, Rockhampton, Mackay, Sunshine Coast, Toowoomba, Gosford, Orange, Wagga Wagga, Albury/Wodonga, Bendigo and Geelong.

The authority also released registration periods, sitting dates and locations for the February 2020 and April 2020 sittings of the exams.

To this end the first round of exams in 2020 will take place from 13 to 18 February, with registrations to be open from 1 November 2019 to 24 January 2020, while 2 to 7 April 2020 will be when the second round of exams are held with registrations open from 2 January to 13 March 2020.

Both sittings will be in Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne, Brisbane, Townsville, Adelaide, Perth, Hobart. The February exams will also be held in Gold Coast, Wollongong, Cairns, Ballarat, Launceston, Port Macquarie, Traralgon, Tamworth, Townsville, Newcastle, and the April exams will be held in Darwin, Gosford, Sunshine Coast, Geelong, Toowoomba, Bunbury, Mackay, Geraldton, Wagga Wagga, Coffs Harbour.

Advisers preparing for the exam can access a preparations guide, a candidate video, and practice questions via the FASEA website.

The first round of FASEA exams held in June saw 90 per cent of participants pass.
