SMSF Association to seek new head of policy

SMSF Association head of policy Jordan George

The SMSF Association will begin the search for a new head of policy to replace Jordan George who will leave before the end of Augus

The SMSF Association is looking for a new head of policy following the resignation of Jordan George, who is taking on a role with federal Treasury.

George will step down from the role on 23 August after seven-and-a-half years with the association, where he was most recently head of policy for four years, and prior to that technical and policy senior manager for just over two years and technical development and policy manager for 15 months.

He will take on a role with Treasury, where he previously worked as a policy analyst from 2008 to 2012, with the association describing the move as a logical career step considering his keen interest in all aspects of superannuation policy.

In announcing his departure, it stated George had made a valuable contribution to the association and the broader SMSF sector, especially in the policy area.

“Jordan led the association’s work on important policy issues, including the Financial System Inquiry, the 2016 superannuation reforms, the establishment of FASEA (Financial Adviser Standards and Ethics Authority) and its educational and ethical standards, the financial services royal commission and the Productivity Commission superannuation review,” it said.

“The association and its members wish him all the best in his future endeavours and our sincere thanks for his committed work over the past seven-and-half years.”

It said it would appoint a “suitably qualified and experienced replacement” later this year.
