Slattery joins AMP board

Former SMSF Association chief executive Andrea Slattery will join the board of financial services giant AMP as a non-executive director, effective 15 February.

Slattery co-founded the SMSF Association and led it for 14 years before stepping down from the role in February 2017.

She has 26 years’ experience in financial services, superannuation and retirement.

Her other areas of experience include strategy, governance, culture, entrepreneurship and transformational change as a non-executive director, managing director, adviser and business owner.

She has also worked as a financial adviser, run her own consulting and advisory business and worked at the University of South Australia.

In an advisory capacity she has worked with the federal government’s Innovation and Investment Partnership and Peak Superannuation Advisory Group, federal Treasury’s Industry Consensus Working Group and the Adelaide University International Centre for Financial Services.

She is currently a non-executive director at Clean Energy Finance Corporation, Argo Global Listed Infrastructure and the South Australian Cricket Association.

AMP chairman David Murray said: “Andrea has built trusted relations with government, industry and consumers, and been a strong advocate for the self-managed superannuation industry and financial services in general.

“Andrea’s insights into financial advice, wealth management and superannuation will be very valuable to AMP as we continue to simplify and reset our business.”

AMP said her appointment is subject to the usual pre-appointment processes.
