AMP CEO to retire

The AMP board has announced chief executive Craig Meller has confirmed his intention to retire around the end of 2018.

Commenting on the move, Meller said: “It has been a privilege to lead a company with the history and heritage of AMP.

“As we move into the next phase of growth, it is the right time to begin the process of moving to new leadership.”

He said he will continue to deliver on the firm’s strategy through 2018 and will work with the board to ensure a smooth leadership transition.

AMP chairperson Catherine Brenner said Meller had led the transformation of AMP over the past five years and the announcement is intended to ensure a transparent and comprehensive search process.

The board said it will consider internal and external candidates from domestic and international markets in the search for a new CEO.

Brenner will lead the search for Meller’s replacement.
