The Self-managed Independent Superannuation Funds Association (SISFA) has appointed Michael Lorimer as its new managing director.
Lorimer replaces Mike Goodall who offered his resignation firm the role to take up an overseas consulting position based in Hong Kong. Despite stepping down as managing director Goodall will remain as a member of the SISFA board.
Speaking about the appointment SISFA chair Chris Balalovski said: “Michael Lorimer will take on the role of managing director, a role in which he is highly qualified to hold, being one of the founding directors of SISFA in 1999.”
“Michael is also a highly respected SMSF specialist, having previously held the roles of chair of SISFA and subsequently government relations director,” he added.
News of the change in the association’s leadership came at the opening of the SISFA SMSF Forum where a significant business partnership was also revealed that will result in an industry first offering for SMSF trustees.
“SISFA has been in negotiations for many months and can now formally announce in partnership with CoreSuper the launch of new Trustee membership packages incorporating automatic admin penalty and audit insurance – the first of its kind in the Australian market,” Balalovski explained.
“Following on from the successful merger with the SMSF Owners Alliance in May, the combined association now speaks for Australia’s one million self-managed super fund members and these new membership options will provide protection for trustees of SMSFs against fund breaches,” he said.
SISFA also took the opportunity to inform delegates its website and membership categories had been reworked in a move aimed to provide more value for its practitioner members.
