Listed wealth management firm Spring Financial Group (Spring FG) has released a comprehensive seven-part SMSF trustee program, in a move that furthers its commitment to consumer and industry professional education.
Swim Between the Flags, which has been approved by the ATO as a program for “education direction” purposes, aims to educate SMSF trustees or those considering an SMSF on a broad range of subjects from trustee obligations through to winding up a fund.
The program forms part of Spring FG’s Wealthadviser library of more than 90 e-books, which are available free of charge through the group’s website.
Swim Between the Flags is offered via an online learning platform, with each module concluding with a competency exam for participants and a certificate of completion.
Industry professionals completing the program can also claim continuing professional development and Tax Agent Services Act accreditation points.
The seven modules comprise an introduction to SMSFs, trustee responsibilities, contributing to super, withdrawing money from super, SMSF investment rules, the taxation of SMSFs and winding up an SMSF.
Commenting on the launch, Spring FG chief operating officer and head of advice Frank Paul told selfmanagedsuper: “The program reinforces our commitment to education for both industry professionals and consumers.
“Our aim is to set the benchmark for trustee education to help ensure that those with existing SMSFs are up to speed with their obligations including those associated with recent changes to super.
“And those who are considering an SMSF understand the responsibilities that they are taking on.”
On Monday, Ignition Wealth announced the launch of its SMSF Appropriateness tool, which will assist SMSF clients to learn about the key responsibilities and issues associated with becoming an SMSF trustee.
