George joins ICFS board as Slattery steps down

SMSF Association head of policy Jordan George has been named a member of the University of Adelaide’s International Centre for Financial Services (ICFS) advisory board, replacing inaugural member Andrea Slattery.

The board’s role is to advise the ICFS on its activities, in particular developing new research and education initiatives, assisting in fundraising and support for research projects, providing a communication channel between the ICFS and the financial services industry, and enhancing the scope and quality of its activities.

Slattery, the chief executive of the SMSF Association, served on the board for the past 12 years.

ICFS director David White said Slattery had been a highly valued member of the board since its inception and was instrumental in the centre’s core objective of bringing together universities and industry to develop quality research.

“She was influential in initiating SMSF research and education that supports the SMSF profession, as well as providing much-needed cash and ‘in kind’ support to fund a number of relevant government-sponsored research projects,” White said.

“Her vast industry knowledge and extensive networks across the private sector and government have been critical in helping ICFS achieve its goals.

“We are also thrilled to have Jordan George join the board. His deep understanding of superannuation policy, in particular, will be a bonus for the centre.”

Slattery said it had been an honour to be a member of the board and to have been instrumental in the transformational change the centre had initiated via its many roles.

“I am delighted to be leaving the centre in such a positive position, well equipped to continue its significant international and national research, and education programs,” she said.

“As Jordan’s mentor, I am confident that with his knowledge, expertise and commitment, he will be an invaluable board member.”

George, who has a double degree in law and economics from the University of Adelaide, said it was a privilege to be asked to join the ICFS.
