Morgans links with SMSFA for education

The SMSF Association and Morgans Financial have joined forces to offer the stockbroking and wealth management firm’s advisers a range of education, training and accreditation offerings.

The initiative comes as a result of the continued growth of the SMSF sector and a need for advisers to acquire higher professional standards and knowledge.

“We have long identified the SMSF sector as a growth market for our business, so it’s essential our advisers have the specialist knowledge required to meet our clients’ needs,” Morgans wealth management national manager Terri Loy said.

The partnership will aim to offer authorised representatives of Morgans two training programs delivered via membership with the association.

Advisers can participate in either the SMSF Specialist Advisor Pathway program or the SMSF Practitioner Pathway program.

SMSF Association chief executive Andrea Slattery said the partnership was a natural progression for advisers wanting to improve their skills and meet client demands.

“Morgans understands the importance of the SMSF market to its business and is prepared to invest resources to ensure its advisers have the expertise to be able to better service their SMSF clients,” Slattery said.

The joint venture furthers the association’s involvement in supporting improved professional standards and regulation in the sector.

Morgans and the association have agreed to work together on future initiatives that benefit the professionalism of the SMSF sector.

Earlier this month, the association announced it was furthering a partnership with the University of Adelaide to offer a graduate-level SMSF qualification to specialists across various professional disciplines.

In addition, it gave its support to the changes to the draft legislation covering the professional standards for financial advice.
