Vanguard has established a dedicated research centre and team to address critical global exchange-traded fund (ETF) issues and to produce topical and insightful perspectives to investors, regulators and influencers.
The ETF provider today announced Marco Corsi as the head of the research centre. Corsi will lead a newly established team based in London that will be dedicated to the study of ETFs and ETF investors.
Corsi joins Vanguard from BlackRock, where he was most recently a director at iShares and responsible for the Europe, Middle East and Africa product research and innovation team.
Vanguard head of international ETFs Axel Lomholt said as a global ETF leader, the investment manager is looking forward to producing world-class research on this widely adopted investment product and its use by various types of investors.
The London-based research team will collaborate with Vanguard’s other research groups around the world.
Its investment strategy group frequently publishes white papers, web content and academic articles on topics ranging from portfolio construction and investment strategies to current market and economic trends.
The Vanguard Centre for Investor Research previously published studies in Australia and the United Kingdom examining the behaviour of individual investors.
ETFs are the fastest-growing investment product in the world.
In February 2018, assets held in ETFs crossed the US$5 trillion barrier for the first time, following four consecutive years of inflows into ETFs.
As at 30 September, Vanguard ETFs totalled $1.3 trillion, and in Australia it is the largest ETF manager with $12.2 billion under management.
Last week, the Vanguard Global Infrastructure Index ETF commenced trading on the Australian Securities Exchange, following four others listed this year, including environmental, social and governance funds and active ETF offerings.
