The Financial Adviser Standards and Ethics Authority (FASEA) has cancelled the Melbourne sitting of the financial adviser exam in October due to ongoing COVID-19 restrictions.
The authority announced it would provide a remote October exam sitting option for financial advisers in Melbourne instead of the physical location exams that were initially planned.
“Following the reimposition of stage four stay-at-home restrictions for metropolitan Melbourne and the continued closure of exam venues, FASEA advises that Melbourne metropolitan physical location exams will not be offered for the October sitting,” FASEA said.
“Advisers who have registered for a Melbourne physical location exam will have the option to sit the exam online or defer to November or later sitting.”
It noted the Bendigo exam location for the October sitting would continue to be offered to advisers in regional Victoria.
“This measure is being taken in light of the evolving COVID-19 pandemic situation in Victoria and in the interests of all involved with the exam,” it added.
It urged those registered for the October Melbourne metropolitan exam sittings to ensure their contact details were up to date in order for exam administrator ACER to facilitate contact with candidates regarding their options to sit the exam.
FASEA previously cancelled the Melbourne sitting of the financial adviser exam in August due to the reintroduction of stage three stay-at-home restrictions.
Last week, the authority announced the locations for its 2021 financial adviser exam sittings.
It confirmed there would be six sittings for the 2021 financial adviser exam in 31 locations across metropolitan and regional Australia, subject to COVID-19 restrictions.
